As we look towards Covid-19 restrictions easing up, we’d like to support Tyro customers in setting themselves up for success on their first day of trading. To help, we’ve put together a series of useful tips to ensure all your Tyro products are ready to go before you open.

Do a quick check of your Tyro EFTPOS machine for updates

Press the yellow CORR key to turn on your Tyro EFTPOS machine a few days before you need to use it. This will allow any updates to be downloaded and applied to your machine that you’ll need in order to use its’ latest features.

Check what’s displaying on your Tyro EFTPOS machine

After your Tyro EFTPOS machine is updated, it should display your business name on it. If it’s displaying a ‘Sign on Failed’ message, please reboot your Tyro EFTPOS machine. Check here for instructions.

Check your Tyro EFTPOS machine’s charging cable

If you have a Mobile EFTPOS machine, check to see if your charging cable is still functioning. If not, our Customer Support team can help you order a new one.

If you’re experiencing any issues with your EFTPOS machine or any of your accessories, please don’t hesitate to contact our Customer Support team on 1300 00 TYRO or cs@tyro.com

Cleaning your Tyro EFTPOS machine

1.  Cleaning agents you should use
Only a solution of 70-75% ethanol with water. Ensure you do not use any spray household cleaners or surface disinfectants directly on your Tyro EFTPOS machine and do not use solvents like acetone or white spirits. Do not use isopropanol.

2. Antistatic cloth

To clean your Tyro EFTPOS machine, please follow the recommendations below.

Your EFTPOS machine has similar components to a smartphone or laptop, so you should treat it the same way and use the same cleaning agents you would use to clean those electronics.

Cleaning instructions
Apply the 70-75% ethanol with water to a cloth and gently rub the exterior of your EFTPOS machine. Pay particular attention to the keypad. Remember, don’t apply the cleaning solution directly onto the EFTPOS machine; apply it to a cloth first and then use that cloth to wipe the machine.

Cleaning the display
You can clean this by gently rubbing it with an antistatic cloth.

Cleaning frequency
You should aim to clean your EFTPOS machine daily. If your machine gets a significant amount of use, you should consider cleaning it multiple times per day.

Additional safety tips
Encourage your customers to make contactless payments. Also, keep a bottle of hand sanitiser near your EFTPOS machine and encourage anyone who has to touch the machine to sanitise their hands first.
