Tyro claims two gongs at Australian Banking Innovation Awards

It has been a big Australian Banking Innovation Awards for Tyro with the team taking home this year’s Most Innovative Digital Solution and Most Innovative Business Payments Solution awards.

The Most Innovative Digital Solution Award recognised Tyro’s Business Term Deposit, which was launched in July and is the first product Tyro has delivered on Mambu’s cloud native banking platform.

The Most Innovative Business Payments Solution award recognised Tyro’s integrated EFTPOS and eCommerce solutions, which simplify payments and banking for more than 32,000 Australian businesses.

Tyro Senior Product Manager Katherine Vo said the Most Innovative Business Payments Solution Award acknowledged Tyro’s efforts to support its customers with solutions that have helped them navigate unchartered waters of the pandemic.

“We are proud to be recognised for a solution which makes payments easier for our customers, particularly given the challenges they have faced recently,” she said.

“All of the winners and nominees are lucky to work in an industry which supports Australian businesses, and that support has never been more important than right now.”

eCommerce Product Manager Aaron Ho said businesses across the country had been forced to adapt to the impacts of the pandemic and Tyro’s commitment to make the process as simple as possible had not wavered.

“Our purpose is to simplify payments and banking for our customers; and with the present situation constantly evolving, that means supporting our customers as they diversify their businesses and provide them with the solutions they need,” he said.

Tyro Engineering Lead Devesh Maheshwari echoed the pair’s sentiments when commenting on the Most Innovative Digital Solution award, citing the efforts of team members across the company.

“A lot of hard work has gone into building a product which allows our customers to lock away savings at competitive rates, while maintaining the simple, entirely digital product flow our customers have become accustomed to,” he said.

Head of Deposit Product Shehan Rajakumar joined Mr Maheshwari in accepting the award and acknowledged the team at Mambu, Tyro’s core banking partner for their support on the project.

“This is our first term deposit product and we were able to build it and roll it out in three months by using the Mambu platform,” Mr Rajakumar said.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to Mambu; with their support we’ve not only delivered a product our customers love, but also one that has now been recognised by the wider industry as an innovative solution for Australian businesses.”

Tyro was also a finalist in the Marketing Campaign of the Year Award.
